We counted ourselves lucky to have such a pristine, unspoiled wilderness practically to ourselves. And yet we couldn't help but feel that, in fact, the wilderness was claiming us for itself instead.
In addition to the stunning, rugged scenery, we found exactly what the Winds are famous for: moody, unpredictable weather. Moments of sunshine and calm quickly transformed into roiling, booming thunderstorms and driving rain and sleet, and back again in what seemed like an instant.
